Belize

Today as I spent my day trapped indoors, I was dreaming of a fabulous getaway. I began to reminisce of a trip I took two years ago to Belize. Let me just say there is nothing like this place. The people are so friendly and welcoming. You can't walk down the street without someone saying hello and asking where are you going? They ask out of curiosity and in case they can aide you in any way. I stayed in the city of San Pedro which is on the southern shore of the Ambergris Caye. Here are some of the fun things to do while visiting.

Top Five:
  1. Hike to the Mayan pyramids
  2. Scuba the Great Blue Hole or snorkel the beautiful waters
  3. Cave tubing
  4. Zip line through the jungle
  5. River water tour

They actually allow you to climb the ruins!

Love! Snorkeling these waters was amazing!

Cave Tubing

You begin this tour by hiking through the jungle and then returning by tubing through the Caves Branch River. The Mayans regarded these caves as sacred and a home of many Gods.

The gentle current guides you down the river.

As you enter the caves, everything goes pitch black you can only see by the mining light you wear on your head.

I think the lotus is my favorite flower. It grows in the most disgusting water and brings beauty.

Unusual Art

I love finding interesting pieces of art for my home. The feeling when someone walks into your house and asks, "Where did you find that? I love it!," you know you have found a keeper. The stranger the better is my motto. I've had the idea for a photo/art mural for my blank and boring living room wall for some time now. While searching the web I stumbled across a couple unique pictures to start the wall off right.

World map by Viva Terra
This tung wood map is made out of three panels. I love the abstract design and imagry. I have a thing for maps. I love to discover new places around the world and a map helps me escape to a far away land. A girl can dream right? This amazing piece will set you back $398. I wish it was a little less expensive.
Viva Terra
Anything that is recycled has got my vote. Reclaimed wood slats always add an interesting look.
Orange & Park
The next three pieces come from a website I stumbled upon via Apartment Therapy. I'm a native southern Cali girl. I love the fact that these pieces list the great beaches in my area and beyond and with a vintage twist. Although, there are a few colors to choose from I love the 1950s esque blue.

Subway art is all the rage. Paris we will meet again soon...

This piece is also reclaimed wood and was hand printed with eco-friendly ink. Birds, although terrifying to me, are so mysterious. They are always lurking. I wonder what they are thinking up there on that wire.

Bedding Makeover

My duvet needs a new cover. I'm so over my white boring down comforter. I need to spice up my bedding. It's funny what a little color can do for a room. Here are the narrowed down choices:

I love this pattern. Found it here. I think it might be my favorite!

Who doesn't love burnt orange? West Elm you've done it again.

Also fromWest Elm featuring the Greek Key style

Starting a theme with West Elm. This beauty is hand stitched. Love the circle ruffles!

The most expensive but I can't help but love! Serena & Lily

Birthday Love

So I made a few great purchases from Anthropologie. I had gift cards from my recent birthday, wow my friends and family know me all too well, so I decided to have a little retail therapy.

This dress finally went on sale. It was almost half-price. AMAZING

I just love this crocheted little number. I can wear this over almost anything, including this dress!

I love my new finds AND the fact that my birthday keeps on going :)

Timeless

"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best." -Marilyn Monroe

My thoughts exactly...

San Francisco

Last week I took a trip to San Francisco for my birthday weekend. The one thing I wanted to do was bike the Golden Gate Bridge. Ever since I was in college I have wanted to bike across the bridge and surprisingly none of my friends were takers. Strange dream I know, but I wanted to feel the wind in my face (very cold wind at that) while seeing the sights upon a bike. With a little coercing I talked my bestie and cousin, Kayla, into joining me. It is an 8 mile ride one-way to Sausalito, but so worth it. We set out on our journey, not realizing there would be a few hills to master before we even set foot in the bridge. Once we were finally on the bridge, the temperature dropped what felt like 10 degrees. We kept going and finally made it Sausalito. What a beautiful sight and accomplishment.
